Thomas Farrell scored two tries in the last ten minutes of the game to end the Toyota Cheetahs' unbeaten streak in the 2019/2020 Pro14 season. The match-winning try scored in the 85th minutes of the game.
Connacht lead 14-05 at halftime but two tries by the Toyotas Cheetahs gave them a 14-22 lead with ten minutes to go. However, Swanepoel’s red card for a headbutt transformed the game and replacement Farrell immediately powered over from just a metre out to reduce the gap.
Although the Cheetahs dug deep and resisted for as long as they could, Connacht gained field position on the five-metre line, drew defenders to the breakdown and then moved right for Farrell to dot down the second time in ten minutes for the match-winning try, the conversion by Conor Fitzgerald being the margin of the victory (24-22).
The win saw Connacht move to the top of Conference B while the Cheetahs surrendered their number one position to Leinster in Conference A.
